We are driven by our learners
Whilst traditional principles are at the heart of the academy, helping us to provide a caring and welcoming environment where young people can thrive, we are also fully committed to having ambitions for all.
We provide an exceptional learning environment where ambitions are achieved with a safe and ethical approach. As a learning community, we all actively engage in providing the best education, as well as creating a sense of belonging and pride.

The 16-19 Tuition Fund Statement
Cornwallis Academy is dedicated to recovering lost curriculum time for students of all Key Stages.
At Key Stage 5, we plan to deliver the following interventions supported by the 16-19 tuition fund:
- Qualified teachers and support staff will deliver after school support classes in English and Maths for students who have not yet achieved a grade 5. If demand is too great and exceeds the prescribed group numbers, priority will be given to students who have not yet achieved a grade 4.
- One to one sessions may be added for priority students who have not achieved a grade 4, and this will be added as a ‘period 6’ to their timetables.
- A ‘rolling’ two week timetable will provide after school support sessions for all KS5 subjects. These sessions will be run by KS5 specialists. Additional sessions are also being designed for delivery over the half term break.
We plan to utilise additional resources, such as the purchase of maths and English revision guides for all students without a grade 4 pass in English and/or maths. Online resources such as ‘maths watch’ will also be used, while ‘The online national tutoring service’ is also under consideration.
Funding will be used to pay qualified staff, and where necessary, to fund extra resources.
